Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the requirements to rent?

All drivers must be at least 21 years old and provide a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and keep a credit card on file to complete the reservation. All drivers must be listed on the rental agreement.

  • Where can I take the golf cart?

Carts are permitted along paved roads with speed limits 35 mph or less. Carts are not allowed on sidewalks, bike paths, or major highways. See our Local Rules & Safety page with map for details.

  • How long does a battery last?

On a full charge, a cart typically lasts 25–35 miles depending on terrain and passenger load. Please leave the cart charging overnight or anytime it’s not in use.

  • What happens if my cart runs out of battery or fuel?

Please keep an eye on your battery or fuel levels. Should you run out and get stranded, try to get to the side of the road and contact us immediately. Our rescue service carries a fee of $100 but is much less expensive than a tow truck.

  • How do I charge the cart?

Each cart includes a charger stored under the back seat compartment. Simply plug the charger into the cart, then into a standard 110V outlet. Charging begins after a 20-second delay—the green light will blink while charging and turn solid when the battery is full.

  • What if I need to cancel my rental?

We understand plans can change, and we’ll always do our best to accommodate you! Cancellations are accepted up to 10 days before your rental. For reservations within 10 days of your rental, we’re unable to offer cancellations, as it may prevent us from renting the cart to another guest. Thank you for understanding!

  • What if there is bad weather?

Unfortunately, staying in a tropical paradise can sometimes bring rain and thunderstorms. While we hope for sunny skies during your stay, we can’t control the weather. That being said refunds will be provided for any named tropical storm or hurricane affecting the immediate area.

  • What if I get into an accident?

Make sure everyone is safe and call 911 should anyone need immediate medical attention. Afterward, please contact Sugar Sand Carts 30A LLC at (850) 801-2202 and report the incident.

  • How does delivery & pick-up work?

All bookings are by the night, just like your vacation rental. We guarantee delivery of carts by 4:00 PM on the first day of your reservation. Should you need an earlier delivery, please contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Pick-ups begin at 9:00 AM on the last day of your rental. Please have the cart fully charged or filled with fuel before pick-up—carts not fully charged are subject to a fee.

  • How are Low-Speed Vehicles (LSV’s) different from a golf cart?

Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) are built for street use and come with added safety features that standard golf carts don’t have. They include seatbelts, DOT-rated parts, and can drive at night, with a top speed of up to 25 mph. LSVs are street-legal on roads posted 35 mph or less, making them safer and more versatile than a typical golf cart.

  • Are seatbelts and car seats required?

Yes! All traffic safety laws that apply to automobiles also apply to LSVs. This means:

    • Everyone must wear a seatbelt while the cart is moving.
    • Children 5 and under must use a federally approved car seat or booster.
    • No children may ride on laps.
  • What happens if I receive a citation?

Any citation issued while the cart is in your possession is your responsibility. Please pay it directly to the issuing authority within the required time frame. Sugar Sand Carts 30A reserves the right to release renters information to law enforcement or applicable agencies as needed.
