  • Carts may only be driven on roads posted 35 MPH or less
  • No driving on sidewalks, bike paths, boardwalks, or the beach
  • No driving on Highway 98
  • Driver must have a valid driver's license and follow all Florida traffic laws
  • Open container and DUI laws apply to carts just like cars

Rules & Safety

Street Legal Low Speed Vehicles (LSV's)

We want your vacation to be fun—and safe. Please note:


  • Carts may only be driven on roads with a posted speed limit of 35 MPH or less
  • Highway 98 is strictly prohibited
  • No driving on sidewalks, bike paths, boardwalks, or the beach
  • We require drivers be 21+ with a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and be listed on the rental agreement
  • Drivers must follow all Florida traffic laws
  • Seat belts must be worn at all times by all passengers
  • Children must be properly secured in an appropriate car seat or booster seat in accordance with Florida law
  • Do not exceed the maximum passenger capacity of the cart
  • Open container and DUI laws apply to carts just like cars
  • Headlights must be used when driving at dusk or in low visibility
  • LSV’s are treated as motor vehicles and must be parked in designated cart or vehicle parking

Florida 30A & Low Speed Vehicles (LSV's)

Street legal and equipped with DOT-approved windshields, seat belts, and required safety lighting, Sugar Sand Carts LSVs are approved for use on 30A roads with posted speed limits up to 35 mph, in accordance with local regulations.
